by gotcha init's my 1st time to post here..i'm basically an open-minded person.
so it has always bothered me to think that there is only one true religion.i've always told this to my mom but she thinks otherwise.
i love my mom so much that i would do anything to make her happy but she knows that i have doubts.

Welcome Thirty and Terraly,
Thirty, I wish you were my Dad!!!! It would make my life so much easier. I was raised as a witness and now am experiencing the fall-out of no longer being one. With the majority of my family still in. It is a tough road you have before you, but it sounds like there is no going back for you.
Take care of yourself and enjoy the freedom of speech here.

PLEASE READ ME! I'm not sure where to post....
by d0rkyd00d ini'm so glad i am finally allowed to post my messages.
they have been building up for quite some time, since the other message board wouldn't let me register because i felt uncomfortable putting what congregation i was with at the time in the appropriate box.
i'd like to start off by saying i love this discussion board, and i'm glad so many people are finding help here.

Just looking for answers.
by Texasbred inunfortunately, i'm not quite sure what my questions are.
my first post was in the "dating..." forum, if anyone's interested.. the biggest problem i have is my complete ignorance concerning jw's and their beliefs/ practices.
the research i've done has provided only polar opposite views, either jw is the way or it's a cult and it's wrong.

Hi there Texas,
You truly are in a very tough spot. It does sound to me as if your girl is having some pretty serious doubts about her religion. Been there done that.
I had been through some very bad times with the JW's which put me on the eventual road out. But it was difficult. I knew the results would be losing my family, and that had a very strong hold on me.
At some point in my journey, I realized that I didn't not want to have a relationship with another witness man. So I began actively dating non-witness men. I met Thinker, and the rest is history.
I da'ed myself in June of 2000, one week before I married Thinker.
It has been just the beginning of my journey with the WT.
The longer I am out the more I learn that for all those years the WT had me fooled.
I am with Gopher. Just keep developing your relationship and see where she goes with the religion. At this point it is her call. I just hope the guilt doesn't get to her and she "blows the whistle on herself" because of the guilt.
I am sure her thoughts are very jumbled up right now. And in her heart of hearts knows she will be making a choice between all her friends and family and you. My heart goes out to both of you!
Keep us informed!!! We will try to help with anything we can. I sure would like to have a heart to heart with your friend.

How long was it for you?
by expatbrit ini'm curious: how many years were you in before you left?
by left, i mean either df'd and decided not to go back, or da'd, or faded, or even just realized it was a crock but stuck around anyway for family reasons?.
we're told in la-la-land that it's the newly baptized, those who are "spiritually immature" that mostly leave.

I was raised as a witness. They called me the pioneer baby because both my parents were pioneers. After Mom had my first brother, she had to stop pioneering. Dad continues to pioneer to this day well over forty years. Mom is also pioneering again for about the past six years.
I pioneered for over eight years regularly, auxiliaried regularly for many more.
In June of 2000 da'ed myself. It was a long haul and very difficult to do, because I knew what the results with my family would be. But I have never regretted my decision. I hadn't been to the KH for about a year before I took official action.
Since then my husband (Thinker) who has never been a witness has done tons of research on the Org. and I am continually amazed by all the discrepencies within their teachings. It also never ceases to amaze me that there are so many similiarities with people's treatment and the resulting feelings and emotions that they go through upon leaving or even just having doubts.

I hope this is a friendly place
by truman ini hope this is a friendly place, because i could sure use some friends.
this is my first try at posting on a discussion board, though i have been lurking here and at a few others on the same subject for a few weeks now.
about 4 weeks ago i took the plunge and decided to see just what all the mystery and danger of reading "apostate" material was all about.

Welcome to the board Truman,
I can relate to those feelings you mentioned. It is very scary. Like having a rug ripped out from under your feet.
All these new and scary thoughts run through your head. Especially the logistics of what to do about the family. And what they will think and do.
Just keep reading and growing!!!
Had Enough,
Welcome to you too!!!
